A Busy Week
The busy summer camping season is upon us here at Camp Magruder. Last week our summer staff gathered here on site to learn the many job tasks they will be doing this summer. We worked long hours, but had a fantastic week. We discovered a leak in the water trampoline which has been under repair this week. Hopefully the patch will hold and it will be back in business this afternoon.
The weekend brought us Latino Family Camp (a new camp) and the return of Grand Camp 1. The weather started out rainy, but the sun came out and we were able to enjoy a delightful afternoon outdoors. Campfires on Saturday night were outdoors and our campers enjoyed s'mores and banana boats.
We kept ourselved busy with a 1-2 grade camp, Beach Adenture Camp (3-5th grade), Celebrating Arts (6-8 grade), and M.A.D.D. Camp (9-12 grade) this week. The 1-2 grade camp was new this year and was designed to be a 3 night 4 day experience. The campers had a fantastic time wave jumping, hiking to the tide pools, swimming, boating, playing on the beach, making arts and crafts, singing, and making s'mores.
Beach Adventure campers have spent time swimming, boating, working in the garden, hiking to the tide pools and the sand dune, wave jumping, and even had time to show hospitality to the summer staff by inviting them to eat lunch at their table today. The campers in this camp have fallen in love with a game called Predator Prey (basically hide and seek) and beg to play it all the time.
Celebrating Arts Camp has been busy swimming, boating, wave jumping, singing, preparing music and drama for the parent presentation on Friday, playing extreme field games, and participating in a photo scavengar hunt around camp. Tonight they plan on having s'mores down on the beach and a themed dinner.
M.A.D.D. Camp has been hard at work participating in music, art, dance, drama, and tech. for their production this year. The production is open to the public and will be Friday, June 29, at 7 pm. They've also been playing extreme field games, making delicious treats, participating in small group team building, swimming, boating, and enjoying dressing up for themed dinners.
